Fat Cat martabak is our first Social Enterprise project, the project goals is to empower people especially at-risk individuals who needs jobs and provides them with skillful culinary capacity, enhance their marketing and hospitality skills. The future goals is that the profit will be share to support the Indonesian Resilience Foundation social and environmental activitiy.
The choice of Martabak is not solely just for profit, but its because that Martabak as a local delicious ''indonesian pancake'' represent a ''melting pot'' - that is the mix of international culture absorbed by Indonesian from Middle east, India, and China. The choice of food business is also unique and has a special of history. Combine with western style and topping. It provides a truly unique products.
The products also encourage usage of organic materials and can be seen by its product such as herbal meat martabak. Green marketing and green products awareness is also encourge to the consumer, providing an authentic styles.
Problems for most of workers is treated as only workers. In our business, they are treated as a potential team workers and future partners, we plan to develop the business and prepare every workers to be either a socially-responsible professionals or a Social entrepreneurs in the future with unique entrepreneurial skills and provides experience to change their life.
The business was started from an unused warung (small wooden shop) which has not been previously managed well. The land owner agreed to spare and rent it to us with very low rent cost, however, the choice of place is very strategic for future market because its located in a prestigious area of elite Pondok Indah area in the south- Jakarta, Indonesia. Moreover, there is less competition for start-up since there has been no more Martabak in this area for a long time.
